What is the Parental hub!?
This year, October 18–24 marks National Teen Driver Safety Week. A week that serves as an urgent reminder of our shared responsibility to protect and properly educate young motorists. According to recent roadway safety data, Arizona ranks fourth nationwide in teen driver fatalities—a sobering statistic that demands an honest assessment of our current approach to novice driver training.
Significant disparities exist across generations of drivers. Roadway dynamics, state traffic statutes, and vehicular technologies have evolved substantially over recent decades, yet driver education standards have not kept pace uniformly. Compounding this challenge is the high cost of drivers education programs, which only places high-caliber driver education out of reach for many families. Consequently, most teen drivers rely almost exclusively on informal, parent-led training—an approach that often inadvertently passes down poor driving behavior habits and more.
To directly address the gaps, our outreach is developing an evidence-based distracted driving prevention curriculum set for full release in 2027. However, given the data and numbers coming out from last year, immediate risks only seem to be growing and our leadership board does not see the purpose in holding on to something that could be released and used now.
We are proud to introduce a version of The Parent’s Hub, a dedicated and carefully written resource designed specifically to empower parents/guardians with the discussions, conversation topics and starters, boundary setting and more!
Some of the things you can expect in The Hub equips families with:
- Guided Discussion Frameworks: Structured prompts to facilitate meaningful conversations about accountability, speed, and mobile device use.
- Family Driving Agreements: Tools to establish clear boundaries, driving curfews, and expectations tailored to your household.
