Legacy support for Families

Life can change in the matter of seconds when someone driving makes the choice drive distracted behind the wheel. This choice leads to lives being changed forever. When a life is lost, families are left in shock, heartbreak, and a confusing amount of emotions leading to  overwhelming uncertainty.

The team behind Addi's Miracle Foundation was created knowing that we would meet many families facing this hard, unfair reality and our team was built agreeing that those who found their way to us, wouldn't have to walk this road alone.

Our support for families goes beyond education, awareness and advocacy. We are present during the hardest days, the months and years that follow — offering caring support that is emotional, practical, and deeply human.

The early days

Day 0 to 90 is about support and stabilization. When you go through the traumatic event of losing a loved one like this it is normal for your body to feel a lot of really strong emotions all at once. Deep grief, confusion and exhaustion can cause to feel like you don't know what to do next and that is completely normal. It's part of trauma and we are here to walk your family through it.

Some of the ways we can assist your family at this time:

  • Help you create a check list of what steps and actions you need to take.

  • Guidance with a check list of what you need to plan your loved ones funeral or memorial service. We can help create a list of resources for you, in your area when it comes to planning.

  • Support navigating gaining any reports that you may want or need access to.

  • Resources to crisis financial assistance resources in your area.

  • Coordination of meal trains and household support

Emotional and mental health support

The loss of a family member at any age for any reason can be tragic. When you lose someone suddenly or due to a traumatic event it's incredibly traumatic on your nervous system. It's important to remember that your feelings are valid and that you are  not alone.

We help families access:

  • We offer grief support through Addi's Miracle Foundation for 18 and up via zoom meetings once a month and / or daily trauma informed grief support via a private, safe community board giving you access to others who are walking a journey very similar to yours.

  • Guided resources to Trauma informed councilors in your area as well as grief resources available in your area.

  • Resources for Trauma informed grief counseling in your area for siblings both younger children and teens.

  • Grief informed pastoral care in your area.

  • Trauma informed resources for you to have at your finger tips. There is no time line for grief. Everyone walks their own journey and we aren't here to rush the process. What we want to do is help you have the resources on hand so that when you are ready you have what you need.

Legal & Victim Advocacy support

Addi's Miracle Foundation does NOT give out legal advice, whatsoever. All of us have walked this journey in one way or another. What we are here to do in this area is walk with you, support you and advocate beside you when you feel it's needed. We can prepare you and provide you with resources in your area.

Other ways our team is here to support you in this area:

  • Attorney referrals in your area.
  • Make you aware of victim rights.

  • If in the state of Arizona - Court accompaniment so families never attend hearings alone.

  • Assist in preparing victim impact statements.

  • Support setting boundaries with media if needed.

Connection and community

One of the hardest parts of walking the journey of traumatic loss is feeling like nobody understands you. We created this level in Addi's Miracle Foundation because we don't want families to feel what so many of us have.

We have created our safe, private community board where you can join, when ready to meet others that are on a similar path. Additionally once a year during Awareness against distracted driving month we will host a memorial walk. You can catch information for this on our "events" page. We would love to see a memorial walk start under Addi's Miracle Foundation in every state. If you would like to be the host of this memorial walk in your state, please reach out to us. Email drivealertus@gmail.com subject : Memorial walk

We also have a platform available to share your loved ones photo and their story. This keeps their legacy alive and their story may be THE one that doesn't leave someone's mind, keeping them from driving distracted.

Our promise to your family

 We will:

  • Say your loved one’s name.

  • We will never rush your grief or tell you where you should be at on your journey.

  • We will never tell you how to feel.

  • We will offer to stand beside you in courtrooms, quiet moments, and remembrance days.

  • We will remind you that your story — and your loved one matters - and they always will.
